Our Philosophy

We believe that all children are competent individuals who are innocent, impressionable learners. They learn by doing, copying, listening, exploring, trial and error, being presented with appropriate challenges, making mistakes, and being responsible for their own actions and decision making. Educators support the view that children’s lives are characterized by belonging, being and becoming which are experienced in many different ways through their diverse family lives and experiences.

Our aesthetically pleasing environments that are accessible to all children provide choice, and are predictable, and will stimulate self help skills, promote independence and self initiated play, as well as enhancing participation. The homelike, indoor playrooms have defined areas that are organised and educational so consistency is prevalent and reassuring. The emergent curriculum is however flexible and takes the child’s lead, depending on developmental skills and interests. The rural outdoor garden is open, uncluttered and spacious where children learn through play and exploration, with natural resources as well as child oriented equipment that is challenging.

Educators who are respectful of all children and their families ensure a sense of comfort and security. Educators who demonstrate the importance of conversing on the child’s level and welcome all children with warmth and a genuine interest emphasise the significance of individuality. Catering for children with additional needs, and embracing cultural diversity and values, demonstrates an objective outlook that initiates anti-bias attitudes, equity and inclusion. Educators are guided by the Early Years Leaning Framework for their curriculum decision making and use it to assist in planning, implementing, and reflecting on a quality Early Childhood program.

Families who are informed of each child’s development and daily outcome through verbal and written communication have an understanding of the running of our centre and the program that guides the children’s learning. The centre values the important role that families and the wider community play in contributing towards meaningful and appropriate programs, as well as decision-making processes that will influence the centre’s operations.
