School Readiness Programs

At Kiddies Hut, we believe that school readiness begins as soon as children enrol with us. As children grow and develop, their skills, interests, ideas, prepare them for each of the next phases in their lives; baby to toddlerhood, toddlerhood to pre-school age, pre-school age to beginning their primary education journey. We advocate for children having the best start to their primary education journey, and our play-based experiences and discussions we have with our families as they make decisions on when to send their children to school reflects this.

During the year before school, continued focus remains on providing play-based learning that covers all learning areas, ensuring all children are well-prepared for that next big step in their lives.

We pride ourselves on having an extensive Transition to School program, working with local schools in the area to ensure all children have the most positive start to their school.

Environmental Education

We believe that for children to grow into adults who are environmentally conscious, we must first nurture a deep love of the environment in early childhood. Our environmental education reflects this in the way we spend our time in the outdoor classroom. We nurture respect, love and connection to our environment in our learning experiences, conversations, and investigations with the children. We take our role as caretakers of our land seriously, and believe that children have an amazing capacity to understand big concepts when posed in child-friendly ways. The children are active participants in our sustainability practices and explorations.

  • How do educator's keep track of my child's development?

Through our learning stories, which document the learning through oplay that occurs when educators and children collaborate together. We are also guided by up to date information regarding developmental milestones, whilst also understanding that each child is unique and will meet these in their own time. The relationships we form with your children also assist us in this as we get to know their individual strengths and needs, which assists us in determining whether extra support may be needed.

  • Will my child be loved and have fun?

Short answer is yes! Relationships are the foundation for all that we do at Kiddies Hut. Without forming connections first, children  won't have a secure base from which to venture out and explore, take risks in their learning, and make new discoveries. We believe that we are an extension of your family, and we fill each and every child's love cup everyday with lots of time and hugs.

Our play-based experiences not only promote learning, but are also fun. There is always laughter and smiles throughout our day!

Cultural Awareness

We value our Firsts Nations peoples and acknowledge their continued connection to the land and waters of our beautiful area. We give our thanks to the Worimi and Biripi peoples for the land on which we get to meet and play everyday. This Acknowledgement of Country makes up part of our morning welcome, and the children are actively involved in learning more about local stories and caring for the land. We Walk on Country to develop a deep appreciate of, and respect for, the Land on which we live and play.

We value Australia as a multicultural nation, and celebrate multiculturalism through learning about different cultures through food, stories, discussions, and art/craft experiences. We believe that providing children with this meaningful and age-appropriate exposure to all cultures builds curiosity, empathy, and kindness, positioning people's differences in a positive way.

STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics

As a proud accredited Little Scientists House, we are passionate about STEM education. Being guided by the STEM Practices Framework, embeds STEM education as a way of thinking and doing.
